The Market Street Theatre School is a training program for young students who desire to pursue the performing arts in a professional environment. Market Street Theatre School offers weekly classes on a variety of theatre skills for ages 5 to 18. Our approach to theatre education enables students to fully engage their bodies, faces, voices and imaginations. We also focus on using theatre to empower students to become active and informed citizens of the world. Our classes allow students the opportunity to express themselves; collaborate with others; explore the creative process; and investigate elements of story, character, themes and genres.
Training at the Market Street Theatre School can change young people's lives by nurturing in them the tools to think critically and objectively, to work collaboratively, and to become self-confident, assertive and active members of society.
Our classes offer the student skills in developing an ensemble (working together as a group), self-confidence, physical and vocal awareness and control, focus and personal discipline. We seek to create not only aspiring performers, but great human beings with an appreciation for the area of theatre. And, of course, we'll have a lot of fun along the way!
