Teachers: Eric Forsythe and Kristen Behrendt-DeGrazia
There
is an old saying “Drama is easy, Comedy is hard.” And it couldn’t be more true. The summer we will be working on musical comedy scenes and songs. Don’t just sing a song…
Mean it! This class will combine vocal technique with using the power of
emotion and character to create a memorable performance. Students
will kick off their summer with a blast as they sing and move their way
around the world, performing musical numbers from a variety of old and
new shows. We’ll continue the journey begun last summer, so whether
you’re a returning performer or new, you’ll have fun in this creative
and educational workshop. Daily sessions will develop students’
performing talents while also refining important motor and communication
skills—all in a positive and supportive environment. Then to top it
off, we’ll conclude journey with a special showcase performance for
family and friends! This summer students will have a rare
opportunity to study comedy and singing with two of the best instructors in the
country. Eric Forsythe, professor of theatre at the U of I and Kristen Behrendt-DeGrazia vocal coach
and former star on Broadway.
